2024-2025 LAURELS FOR LEADERS
HIGH SCHOOL SERVICE PROJECT CHALLENGE

Why - You are one of over 150,000 high school students in San Diego County, and we believe in your immense potential to create positive change in our community. To harness this potential, we are challenging all high school ASB Presidents to design a signature service project that showcases their school's dedication to making our community a better place to live.

When - Complete your project and submit the video before January 27, 2025, for a chance to be featured in the Awards Ceremony program.

How - Create a video, 3 minutes or less, that includes all relevant information and visuals representing your project. Upload your video using this link. *Ensure that everyone featured in the video has given permission for it to be publicly shared.

Additionally, post about your project on social media using the hashtag #LFLChallenge! Bonus points will be awarded if you share your project on our LinkedIn page and tag @laurels-for-leaders #LFLChallenge.

Prizes - Service project videos will be judged by their clarity of presentation and messaging, depth of reflection, leadership and problem-solving skills, collaboration and teamwork, and community engagement and impact. One winning school will receive a cash prize for their ASB fund.

The winning school's video will be showcased, and the ASB President will be invited to speak at the Laurels for Leaders Awards Ceremony on March 6, 2025!

Service Project Ideas

  • Food Drive – Set up a food drive with The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. The Food Bank distributes food to those in need at 200 distribution sites across the county as well as through 500 nonprofits with feeding programs.
  • Partner with an elementary or middle school to tutor students struggling with various subjects such as math, science and reading.
  • Create “care” packages for abused women, senior center or a homeless shelter with essential items such as shampoo, blankets, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, etc.
  • Develop your own service project to fit your school and your community.
